    Degenkolb is again offering a summer internship program for future engineers We have openings for Seniors and graduate students in the following office locations: San Francisco, Oakland, Orange County, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle.

    We offer a hybrid work schedule.

    In the structural engineering field, a good GPA can only get you so far. Hands-on experience is the key to the possibilities awaiting you upon graduation.

    As an intern, you will spend the summer working at Degenkolb on active project teams and getting to know us, our clients, and our work.

    The goal of this program is to give top students an understanding of how a structural engineering practice operates to complement your academic career and to create a recruitment pipeline.

    We are very fortunate to hire many former interns who wish to join the firm full-time upon completing their studies.


    With your application, please submit your resume, school transcripts (unofficial are fine), and a targeted cover letter describing your enthusiasm for structural design.


    Scholarship Program:


    We have a Scholarship Program for hired Interns that best demonstrate a commitment to furthering the standards of the profession and pursuit of knowledge.


    The program offers 3 scholarships:
    one for Cal Poly SLO students, one for students at other CSU campuses, and one for members of AISES, NSBE, SHPE or WISE student chapters at University of California campuses


    Award:
    $4,000 grant awarded after registration for the Fall 2024 quarter/semester.

    To apply for the scholarship, submit a targeted cover letter of two pages or less to explain:

    • Individual career goals in the structural engineering profession
    • Goals for a graduate school education
    • Individual academic and leadership skills
    • Any challenges you experienced while pursuing your academic journey (for example, first generation college graduates may struggle for resources)

    Required Qualifications:

    • Passion for structural and seismic analysis.
    • Registered as a full time student and currently enrolled or considering enrollment as a graduate student in structural engineering.
    • Strong academic achievement in upper division civil/structural engineering courses.
    • Extracurricular pursuits including leadership roles.
    • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
