    Summary – The Part-Time Wick Recreation Receptionist under the general direction of the Recreation Manager, facilitates all customer service, retail, rental and receptionist duties at Wick Recreation Center. This position will be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager. This position is suitable for transitional duty.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Reception and Visitor Services

    • Greet visitors entering Wick Recreation Center
    • Answer any in person, email or phone inquiries made by the general public
    • Assist with various Recreation Department events by making registrations (Field, Facility & Programming), taking payments, answering questions, and directing attendees
    • Manage incoming telephone calls and transfer as appropriate
    • Assist visitors with brochures, maps, directions, etc.
    • Take accurate and legible messages and relay to appropriate parties
    • Maintain high level of confidentiality in all department business
    • Collect and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
    • Facilitate opening and closing procedures for Wick Recreation Center
    • Manage rental space registrations and reports
    • Promote rental space to the general public by sharing information and giving tours of the area
    • Organize and submit daily reports for the Recreation Center and Par-3 Building to the Finance Department
    • Ensure all MetroParks rules and regulations are followed
    • Entering programs and event on Emerge reservation system

    Retail

    • Assist in maintaining inventory
    • Organize the retail space, restocking shelves and folding clothing as needed
    • Process sales transactions involving cash or credit card
    • Assist customers by answering questions and making product recommendations
    • Keep accurate transaction records and balance daily cash register activity
    • Ensure the retail space is kept neat, in-order, dusted and clean

    Departmental Functions

    • Assist with building needs including office supply inventories and maintenance requests
    • Assist in developing and monitoring the Annual Plan of Operation
    • Keep supervisors informed of essential issues and report disturbances to proper authorities
    • Other duties as assigned

    Essential Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

    • Must be highly organized, efficient, and capable of managing numerous objectives, simultaneously within a fast-paced environment utilizing sound judgement
    • Must possess excellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms with the ability to effectively reach a variety of audiences in various formats
    • Must possess technological skills and abilities through the operation of standard office equipment and computer software.
    • Must exhibit the ability to be part of a team and work with various disciplines in a collaborative approach utilizing a positive attitude and professional appearance and demeanor
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional courtesy, diplomacy and tact

    Education/Qualifications

    • 1 year demonstrated experience in an office or retail environment
    • Experience with online reservation systems preferred
    • Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license

    Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform Job Functions

    • Ability to walk, traverse or otherwise access Wick Recreation Center and Wick Recreation Area, under all types of conditions and weather
    • Must be available to work special events including events taking place on evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Must be physically able to perform all tasks inherent to the position
    • Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, climb, and walk for lengthy periods of time
    • Hand and finger dexterity, ability to type for extended periods of time
    • Ability to sit at a desk and view screen displays for extended periods of time
    • Ability to see and hear
    • Regular and predictable attendance
    • Ability to communicate, clearly and effectively to a wide variety of audiences
