Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Location:Everett, Washington

Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of visually impaired students? We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team in Everett, WA. As a TVI, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, empowering them to reach their full potential academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments to determine students' educational needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) accordingly.
Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, adaptive technology, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills.
Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and parents to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
Adapt classroom materials and teaching strategies to accommodate students' visual impairments and diverse learning styles.
Utilize assistive technology and sensory aids to enhance students' access to the curriculum and learning environment.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes independence, confidence, and self-advocacy.
Monitor student progress, track data, and adjust instruction as needed to facilitate academic growth and skill development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.
Valid Washingtonteaching certification in Visual Impairments (VI) or willingness to obtain certification.
Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred.
Knowledge of Braille, tactile graphics, and other specialized instructional techniques.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching and working with diverse student populations.
