    Seeking Sales Interns for Summer/Fall 2024 JOB SUMMARY Retail Sales Interns are critical to delivering on the sales, renewal, retention, and community penetration objectives of the Florida Blue Centers.

    This internship will entail developing and then demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and competencies of a sales professional through effectively consulting with prospects and existing customers.

    Sales Interns will also perform timely and efficient lead management for their assigned retail center, develop product knowledge, utilize multiple systems and technologies to maximize effectiveness, and participate in networking and business development tactics within the community to build product awareness and future sales opportunities.

    Florida Blue will provide training and pay for you to obtain your State of Florida 2-40 Health license. You must pass an examination and obtain your license prior to training.

    Upon obtaining your license and completing the on-the-job training program, you will be eligible to convert to a full-time or part time employee as a Retail Sales Consultant.

    What can a Retail Sale's intern at Florida Blue expect? SALES OPERATIONS Provide consultative sales and service experience for customers seeking information and education on available products to support health, wellness, and income protection.


    • Use web-based tools and sales systems to analyze prospective customer needs and match to appropriate company products and services.
    • Conduct plan comparison and analysis for new or existing members seeking new solutions.
    • Present and explain recommended products, benefits, features, and alternatives.
    • Ensure new customers receive orientations/information regarding self-service and shopping tools, incentives and value-added features and information.
    • Promote the additional services available to members through the center clinicians, community specialists and service consultants.
    • Utilize face-to-face, telephonic, and electronic methods to respond to customer requests for information, quotes, and/or to process sales.
    • Generate leads for new sales and member retention.
    • Set appointments for sales and member retention visits through various campaigns.
    • Maintain an ongoing relationship with previous customers to drive retention and loyalty.
    • Follow standard operating procedures to effectively disposition, track, and record outcomes of work efforts.
    • Help facilitate enrollment or education meetings with prospective or existing customers within the retail center and within community settings.
    • Gain personal understanding of targeted groups' products, services, and features.
    • Participate in formal and informal sessions, individually or within small groups, providing information and answering questions to ensure customers understand products, benefits, and tools, and how to use them.
    • Track and report enrollment support activities and outcomes. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT + BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
    • Participate in local grassroots marketing, networking, event activation, and relationship building outside of the center to drive growth and advance the company mission.
    • Support Field Marketing, Local Market Presence, and Foundation initiatives to drive greater brand awareness and market share for the enterprise. CENTER OPERATIONS
    • Provide support for special events and projects (e.g., seminars, appearances, promotional events, clinical programs) for the general public in the Retail Center.
    • Help ensure all customers (walk-in, telephonic or electronic) are warmly greeted, their needs are assessed quickly and they are referred to the appropriate setting, person, information or tools to address their needs.
    • Consistently follow standard procedures to track key visitor information to support ongoing operational analysis, continuous improvement, and operational enhancements.

    • Position is located in the following regions: North FL, Central FL, West FL and South FL
    • Upon obtaining your State of Florida 2-40 license, you will be eligible for a full-time or part-time role serving as a Retail Center Consultant through mid-December 2024.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited college or university degree program.
    • Must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better at the time of application, throughout the application process, and for the duration of the internship program.
    • 1-2 years related Retail experience
    • State of Florida 2-40 Health, Life and Annuities license (Must obtain prior to training)
    • Pursuing a degree in sales, marketing or related degree program.
    • Proficient in MS Office products
    • Good time management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Collaboration / relationship building and detail-oriented
    • Work flexible hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with health insurance products to include individual and group plans.
    • Experience in outside sales and/or business development.
    • Experience in networking, public speaking, and relationship management.
    • Bilingual - Spanish. Florida Blue is a federal contractor and as such will comply with federal guidelines related to the COVID-19 vaccination. This is an essential office position in which social distancing cannot consistently be maintained. Therefore, to be successful, applicants need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 General Physical DemandsSedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

    Hourly Pay Range:
    $15 - $23Typical


    Hourly Pay Range:
    $15 - $17Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
