    Program Aide Job Description

    The Program Aide is a vital team member responsible for ensuring the overall well-being and safety of summer camp participants. This individual must possess high energy, enthusiasm, and genuinely enjoy working with children.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Supervises a group of children alongside the Program Lead, maintaining their health and well-being at all times.
    2. Takes daily attendance and ensures accurate records.
    3. Maintains the camp site and equipment to ensure a clean and safe environment.
    4. Develops and implements engaging program activities aligned with YMCA values.
    5. Ensures adherence to safety, cleanliness, and licensing protocols.
    6. Attends trainings and staff meetings with summer camp leadership.
    7. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including medical emergencies, behavior policy implementation, child abuse prevention, and other emergency situations.
    8. Cultivates positive relationships with parents, children, and staff, modeling effective communication skills.
    9. Maintains ongoing communication with the Program Lead and Director.
    10. Prepares for and cleans up after camp activities.

    Qualifications:

    1. Must be at least 16 years old or older.
    2. Six months of programmatic experience with children, preferably in a camp setting, is preferred.
    3. Must complete 24 hours of training to meet licensing standards.
    4. Preferred CPR/First-Aid certification; training will be provided by the YMCA if not certified.
    5. Exceptional group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills are required.
    6. Experience in creating, planning, and facilitating interactive activities related to youth development, physical fitness, and academic enrichment is preferred.
    7. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with children and adults.
    8. The ability to implement directives and adapt to changing circumstances is essential.
    9. Demonstrated knowledge of YMCA mission, purpose, goals, childcare policies, and YMCA standards is required.
