    **Job Title:** Staff Physical Therapist

    NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a qualified and compassionate Staff Physical Therapist to join our team at Harlem Hospital Center.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Under supervision, administers physical therapy in a healthcare setting.
    Examines and evaluates the patient's condition and plans and administers treatments to promote optimal health.
    Seeks to relieve pain, improve the body's movement and function, maintain cardiopulmonary function, restore, maintain and promote optimal physical function, and limit disabilities resulting from injury or disease.
    Acts in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations and physical therapy standards of care; performs related work.

    The Staff Therapist promotes the basic human rights, dignity, health, and safety of the persons served; treats patients as prescribed and engages in clinical, teaching, and administrative duties as appropriate.
    Within the limits of his/her professional experience and competence, the therapist modifies patient program to achieve the desired goals.
    The staff physical therapist complies with all regulatory agency requirements, including the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), New York State Department of Health (Article 28), and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

    Responsibilities Include:
    Ensuring that patients have been made aware of their rights and responsibilities.
    Treating and evaluating patients as prescribed.
    Instructing patients and their families in such physical therapy procedures as indicated.
    Maintaining adequate and appropriate records, including collection and management of data regarding program evaluation.
    Determining needs and initiating requests to the supervisor for equipment and supplies.
    Fabricating, modifying, or supervising the fabrication or modification of adaptive equipment as indicated.
    Implementing and participating in Quality Assurance & Improvement and Program Evaluation activities.
    Instructing patients and their families in such PT procedures and techniques as are indicated.
    Attending appropriate conferences and seminars for Continuing Education and to keep abreast of new developments in the profession.
    Instructing medical and other health workers as indicated either through informal mechanisms or structured procedures as may be established.
    Maintaining assigned work area, its equipment, and supplies.
    Assuming appropriate duties of the Senior Physical Therapist.
    Performing other related and appropriate duties as indicated or assigned.
    Promoting a positive and pleasant attitude conducive to the workplace.
    Meeting all compliance standards/requirements, such as annual physical evaluation/assessment, Five Star Training, Right-To-Know-Training, Fire Drill Participation, etc.
    Participating in Performance Improvement Activities.
    Being responsible for enhancing personal and professional development through attendance at outside and Generations Plus training sessions.
    Being responsible for wearing professional attire to the workplace as well as during off-site work when conducting business on behalf of Generations Plus.
    Exhibiting flexibility within Generations Plus, as it pertains to work assignment, workplace, site designation, and Tour of Duty.
    Adhering to the Vision/Mission and Value Statement of the Organization in all endeavors and interactions.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Valid license and current registration to practice as a Physical Therapist issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); or,
    Valid limited permit to practice as a Physical Therapist issued by NYSED.

    Physical Demands:
    The Therapist must be able to participate in standing activities for prolonged periods, stooping/crouching, squatting, kneeling, twisting, bending at the waist, pushing, pulling, functional walking, climbing stairs, stretching, performing occasional light to heavy (80lbs) lifting tasks safely, balancing, safe transfer activities, performing treatments, reaching, quick reactions, and manual dexterity.
