- High school diploma, medical background/knowledge
- EMS background, LPN, CNA, Medical Assistants, 911 operator, Funeral home experience, or other organ organizations
- No license required- HS Diploma, Further college preferred, but not required
- Team player, medical knowledge/background
- Experience making calls
- Ability to work with organs directly
- On the phone all day dealing with logistics.
- Making outbound calls and receiving inbound calls.
- Working with transplant coordinators, nurses, physicians, making referrals, etc.
- Will also have a hands on capacity in dealing with packed sterile kidneys (organs), so they have to be comfortable with this.
- May also come in contact with the deceased, as they may be sent to their internal morgue for transplant.
- Will be working with Air charter to coordinate flights for transplant as well.
- The position of Donor Referral Coordinator is one of moderate responsibility.Candidates are responsible for receiving and screening referrals from hospitals for potential organ, tissue and eye donors; mobilizing the recovery teams; coordinating the organ procurement for fly-outs; and placing organs at transplant hospitals.
- Responsible for functioning as a designated requestor for tissue/eye donation
