    What You'll Do:
    Ensure Quality Control. Samples and conducts testing on aggregates conforming to the appropriate standard test methods.

    Field and laboratory testing of the complete product line to ensure Quality Control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site.

    Test methods include but are not limited to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the Department of Transportation (DOT).

    Individuals must perform testing proficiently and accurately. Will assist technical services personnel with special projects.

    Document and Report Information. Complete all required reports promptly and accurately, interpreting, documenting, and storing the results. Communicate test results promptly to the supervisor and properly document them in a database.

    Develops and maintains relationships with state/county/city inspectors and customers to allow for proper and timely communication of test results and speedy resolution of any product quality issues or concerns.

    Maintain Lab Standards. Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in and around the lab. Troubleshoot problems and review basic product specifications. Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment periodically.

    Monitor Stockpile. Inspect stockpiles, materials sources, and truckloads at plant sites. Monitor the daily construction of the stockpile to ensure that segregation and contamination are kept to a minimum or
    eliminated. Notify management immediately if contamination is identified.

    Inspect Equipment and Structures.

    Conduct routine inspections of the plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.

    Conducts testing and assists in plant calibrations to ensure the proper quality of the product. Periodically inspects, calibrates, and maintains testing equipment.

    Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.


    Skills You'll Need:
    Education. A High School diploma or its equivalent is preferred.

    Experience. This position works under limited supervision, performing standard and advanced testing. Interprets and records test results and reports problems. This person must be able to perform material testing orderly, efficiently, and accurately. May demonstrate and teach test procedures to less experienced technicians. 3-5 years of laboratory testing experience in construction aggregate properties preferred. Ability to problem solve and work independently. This position requires knowledge and awareness of construction and mining site hazards.

    Certifications. Current Coarse Aggregate Level I and II Technician Certification is required.

    VDOT and NCDOT sampling and testing certifications are preferred, as well as the ability to obtain certifications within six months.

    Communication.

    A person must possess good verbal communication skills for dealing with plant production personnel, plant managers, customers, and agency representatives.

    Safety Knowledge. Must display knowledge and awareness of construction and mining site hazards.

    Will be required to wear protective gear when working in the field, including gear to protect against exposure to noise, dust, and hazardous materials.

    This will include but is not limited to safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and a hard hat.

    Math Skills. Individuals must possess good math and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations.

    Technology Skills. Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.

    Detail-Oriented. Must be attentive to detail.

    Drivers License. Must have a valid driver's license.

    Physical Requirements. Will be required to lift and transport sample buckets and bags of up to 50 pounds.
