    Job Description


    SCOPE OF POSITION
    The orthopedic technician will work under the supervision of a physician or their designee.

    The primary clinical responsibilities include assisting orthopedic and sports medicine physicians in the operating room and/or clinic setting, specializing in splinting, casting, and bracing of bone and musculoskeletal injuries.

    The orthopedic technician will have a general knowledge of standard orthopedic procedures and practices and a working knowledge of orthopedic devices and appliances.

    The orthopedic technician will demonstrate competency in the care of patients of infants, adolescent, adults, and geriatrics. Below is list of typical duties.


    • Apply, adjust, and repair splints, casts, prosthesis, and braces
    • Triaging patient calls
    • Scheduling patient appointments
    • Rooming patients
    • Preparing treatment rooms
    • Pre-visit coordination
    • Wound care
    • Patient education
    • Assist in OR

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    High school diploma or equivalent. Certified or Registered Orthopedic Technician, American Society of Orthopedic Technologist
