Domestic Violence & Sexual Violence Therapist

NYFS is excited to be launching the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocacy and Therapy programs that will bring needed resources to survivors and provide support for other agencies in the community.

Responsibilities:

• Complete Diagnostic Assessments using trauma-responsive, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate assessment tools, resulting in clinical diagnosis.
• Develop individualized treatment plans which define plan of services and intervention; update treatment plans according to regulatory requirements; and provide optimum client care.
• Serve a client base of primarily youth witnesses or survivors of DV or Sexual Violence; 80% of NYFS clients are between 4 and 26 years of age.
• Facilitate psychotherapy/psychoeducation groups for youth and adolescents who have witnessed or experienced violence.
• Participate in on going program development meetings within DV/SA program
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Involve client caregivers in assessment and treatment planning process, and in care when indicated.
• Independently provide individual therapy as needed to address client treatment needs and provide crisis intervention services as appropriate.
• Complete documentation and billing in a timely manner in accordance with NYFS guidelines and all relevant HIPAA and DHS guidelines.
• Provide culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community-based, and developmentally appropriate care.
• Actively contribute to weekly case consultation, staff meetings, and agency and community events as assigned.
• Abide by all professional ethical standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's or PhD in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
• Is on track towards independent clinical licensure, meeting professional eligibility requirements (for example, social workers need to have LGSW).

Preferred Qualifications:

• LICSW, LMFT, LP or LPCC
• Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas preferred:
• Knowledge of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, family dynamics, child development.
• Experience working with survivors of abuse and or clients in crisis
• Experience working with child protection, law enforcement, court systems, and related community services.
• Experience facilitating psychotherapy groups
• Prefer an experienced clinician able to work with children ages 4 and older, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
• Training and experience in treatment of individuals who have experienced trauma.
• Art therapy, Play Therapy, Couple/Family Therapy, or Group Therapy training or interest.
• Speaks Spanish, Hmong, Karen, or Somali fluently
• Clinical Supervision experience or interest; enthusiasm about training interns.
• Knowledge of health conditions and common comorbidities
• Credentialed with major insurances
• Experience with Procentive a plus

Salary Range: $53,000 to $65,000 per year based on education, licensure, experience, and specialized training and skills (trauma modalities, languages spoken, clinical supervisor, etc.).

• Weekly supervision is provided for all staff working toward licensure. Biweekly supervision offered for all staff regardless of licensure to support staff wellness and quality client care.
• Many training opportunities including specific trauma modalities (TF-CBT, NET, CCPT) and cultural responsiveness trainings quarterly.
• Therapists participate in weekly reflective clinical consultation as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
