    Job Description

    The Driver is responsible for transporting individuals of varying ages and abilities participating in Parks and Recreation programs and activities. Drivers are responsible for transporting participants in a safe, timely and courteous manner. This position is responsible for operating our vans according to City policies and all local driving laws.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. *Complete pre and post trip inspection of vehicles before each outing to ensure it is in safe, clean, organized operational condition. Report needed repairs.
    2. Complete trainings and orientations as assigned.
    3. *Immediately report accidents and incidents.
    4. *Immediately reports all driving violations, whether they occur on or off the job.
    5. *Must be able to follow assigned routes. Report any delays or problems arising during the course of transportation.
    6. *Attend training sessions and staff meetings and seminars as requested.
    7. *Must maintain through knowledge of the department functions.
    8. *Maintain vehicle interior and exterior cleanliness.
    9. *Reinforce proper behavior with children and/or teenagers. Treat children, teenagers, senior citizens and adults with respect.
    10. *Must demonstrate common sense with disciplinary action of youth and adhere to all rules and agency policies.
    11. *Assist with or participates in activities or outings as needed.
    12. Perform other duties as assigned.

    8. Adhere to and implement organizational rules and regulations concerning use of vehicles.
    9. No smoking or tobacco use while in City vehicles.
    10. Maintain City information in a confidential manner.

    MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    3. Be a motivated self-starter.
    4. Work independently and to be accurate, efficient and organized.
    5. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    6. Work under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
    7. Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally.
    8. Lift and/or move up to 55 pounds frequently.
    9. Ability to climb ladders, work on scaffolding, work in high places.
    10. Ability to reach and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
    11. Must perform job duties in a safe manner, reporting and assisting in correcting potentially unsafe conditions and able to use necessary equipment and materials properly.
    12. A well-groomed appearance while on the job is required. Uniformed shirts issued by the department must be worn daily and appropriate footwear to avoid injury is required.
    13. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
    14. Hear noises and distress signals. Should have a minimum. Hearing threshold of no more than an average of 25 decibel loss in both ears over a range of frequencies.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

    1. Drivers will frequently be sitting for long periods of time. Will be required to work while standing, walking, reaching, lifting, transferring, climbing, kneeling, or balancing.
    2. This position requires working in both an internal and outside environment. There may frequent temperature fluctuations, extreme hot, cold, wet conditions.
    3. This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

    1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
    2. Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent required.
    3. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
    4. A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.
    5. Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned.
    6. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
    7. Must be able to complete all required training.
    8. Knowledge of City's park and recreation facilities, activities, and programs preferred.
    9. Certification in first aid and CPR a plus.
