The GNC Engineer will contribute to a MORSE team responsible for researching, developing and prototyping novel GNC systems to support autonomous aircraft
MORSE is seeking an aeronautical, aerospace, or signals engineer with a background in guidance, navigation, and control, with a focus in Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (APNT).
Sensing, State estimation and sensor fusion are key aspects of this role with a goal of creating revolutionary technologies and systems to support autonomous aircraft capabilitiesThe candidate will be responsible for designing APNT strategies, performing trade studies, selecting a sensor suites, analyzing flight test results, and iterating for continuous improvement
The candidate will work with and lead a multidisciplinary team in an agile environment
Requirements:
The GNC Engineer must have expertise in both classical and modern PNT techniques
The candidate must have experience developing real-world solutions with computational constraints, measurement errors, and modeling uncertainty
The ideal candidate will have experience working on complex, multi-disciplinary R&D programs
US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED or the ability to obtain a U.S
Security Clearance Expertise in positioning, navigation, and timing, particularly for aircraft B.S
or M.S
(preferred) in Aeronautical/Aerospace or Electrical Engineering (Signal Processing focus) or equivalent degree/major 5+ years of Position, Navigation and or Controls experience
Desired Qualifications:
Expertise in sensor fusion such as Kalman filtering and experience with multiple sensing modalities Knowledge of strategies to navigate when GPS is unavailable Experience with designing and integration of PNT systems for aircraft including flight test Experience with C++ software language and software design best practices
Experience with sensor modeling, simulation, and performance analysis using tools such as Simulink or Python A Robotics background is a plus Ability to lead a small multi-disciplinary team The team at MORSE takes pride in being the smart team that is easy to work with
