    What will you be doing in this role?

    The Cytogenetic Technologist II is proficient in a wide range of tissue culture, FISH, Chromosomal microarray and other chromosome analysis activities and functions under general directions from senior technical personnel. Responsibilities include performing routine and technically complex laboratory tests and analyses requiring well developed cognitive, manipulative and problem-solving skills. The Cytogenetic Technologist II's activities include operating and maintaining test equipment, monitoring and evaluating the quality of testing, and verifying and reporting test results. Additional duties include general support functions necessary for the routine operation of the laboratory. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the developmental issues of the patient population(s) being served.

    Educational Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a biological science, chemistry, medical technology, or related science.
  • Licenses & Certifications Requirements:

  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or limited license appropriate for the area of responsibility.
  • Current National Certification Agency (NCA) certification in Cytogenetics (CLSp(CG).
  • Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a full-service Cytogenetics laboratory.
  • Karyotyping, FISH, Chromosomal microarray analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians and other customers.
  • Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
