    About Our Client

    I am partnered with the Controller of a family owned Public Health manufacturer. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on the cost of goods sold and other related expenses within the organization. This role will involve collaborating with various departments to gather cost data, conducting thorough analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to improve efficiency.

    Job Description

  • Analyze manufacturing costs, overhead, and inventory levels to ensure accuracy and efficiency in cost allocation. Identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement to enhance cost control measures.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts by providing insights into cost drivers and recommending adjustments to achieve financial targets.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide explanations for variances.
  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure accurate valuation of inventory and proper inventory controls.
  • Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and oversee the valuation process.
  • Maintain and enhance costing systems and methodologies to ensure accuracy and relevance in cost allocation.
  • Implement improvements or updates as needed to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on cost analysis, inventory valuation, and related financial metrics to management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis to support strategic decision-making.

    The Successful Applicant

  • Bachhelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience in cost accounting or related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in cost accounting principles, methodologies, and systems (e.g., standard costing, activity-based costing).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify key insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in financial analysis.
