- Previous registration knowledge preferred
- Medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of CPT/ICD10 preferred
- Greets the patient and addresses the needs of both patients and visitors.
- Answers the telephone within three rings, immediately checks voicemail.
- Collects/verifies accurate financial and clinical data every registration.
- Communicates and comprehends hospital registrations, scheduling, admitting, and/or testing procedures and processes.
- Collects customers' Out of Pocket, co-pays, and deductible expenses and payments as appropriate.
- Performs accurate patient registrations per department standards. Achieve "A" at yearly performance evaluation.
- Maintains various departmental records as directed by the Supervisor.
- Assists in the training and education of employees.
- Verifies patients pre-registration for accuracy and updates the registrations as needed.
- Scan applicable registration documents into the Imaging System.
- Scans a copy of the insurance cards on every registration.
- Identifies specific needs and directs them to the appropriate agency for assistance.
- Collects patient email address and assists with Patient Portal Facility enrollment.
- Completes Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare Patient.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of all insurances with an above average knowledge of Medicare, MSP, and billing guidelines.
- Ensures that all general office duties are completed, such as, but not limited to, mailing, filing/scanning, paperwork process, maintaining ordering supplies.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Supervisor of Central Scheduling or Patient Registration.
The Registrar's primary job function is to be responsible for greeting patients in a professional way and performing an orderly, efficient registration process, collecting out of pocket copays.
Responsible for the safeguarding of the public relations of the hospital and confidentiality of its records by consistent professional conduct.
Collects Required Medicare and Joint Commission Requirements. Reviews Medical Necessity, provides patient education related to the Registration Processes and Insurance Guidelines. Works with each Ancillary Departments of the hospital to ensure seamless excellent customer service is delivered.Answers questions and offers other information as requested to provide a patient focused sercice and positive impression of the organization.
