    A Line Cook does the majority of the actual cooking in a kitchen. One prepares everything from main dishes to salads, breads, pasta and even desserts. The Line Cook may work a single station, or may be responsible for any number of dishes as needed.

    The following is a list of some of the duties of a Line Cook:

    Storage and disposal of food. Duty include - for the storage of food, both incoming stock and leftovers. You will often assist in unloading delivery trucks and ensuring that food is stored in the appropriate conditions.

    After food service, you are responsible for determining if leftovers of either prepared or partially prepared food can be reused or if they must be disposed of.

    Testing Recipes. You are often called upon to help Executive Chefs test new recipes.
    Recording Supply Use. You will be asked to keep track of what supplies they use to aid in re-ordering supplies as necessary.
    Clean and prepare cooking station.

    You will be responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift.

    During food service, you are responsible for keeping the station in working order and fully stocked.
    Food preparation.

    You are responsible for preparing items prior to a meal service, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood.

    Maintain Sanitation Standards.

    You are responsible for ensuring that the kitchen meets sanitation standards as set by the Executive Chef and local regulatory bodies.


    Requirements:


    Applicants need to have at least 3 years of experience as a line cook in a Fast Casual Restaurant kitchen and have a background in scratch cooking to be considered for this position.

    Must be able to pass a kitchen knowledge test.

    Must be available to work 5 days a week between the hours of 7:00am to 3:30pm (working weekends is a requirement for this position).

    Applicants must be able to work in fast-paced environment, have good knife skills, be up to date on all Health Code issues.

    Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic and leadership skills and knowledge of food preparation.

    All candidates must be neat in appearance, energetic, reliable, work well with others, be able to multi-task, and enjoy having fun at work.

    Applicants must be Non-Smokers.
    All applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
    Strong communication skills are a must. This position is best suited for someone who is a Team Minded Individual.
    Physical requirements:


    • Requires standing for long periods of time.
    • Requires talking, hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform major functions of interacting with kitchen staff.
    • Requires walking primarily on a level surface, though occasionally slippery, for periods throughout the day.
    • Requirements include reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 25 pounds for restaurant equipment, supplies, and restocking.
    Starting Pay is between $12-$14 per hour plus shift tips
