    Job Description

    Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Job Summary:
    • To provide nursing medical care for high acuity patients in collaboration with a physician.
    Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure:
    • Experience with developmental disabilities preferred
    • Master's degree in Nursing
    • ACLS; RN; BLS (Basic Life Support) CertificationCurrent/unrestricted RN license; Advanced Practice License; ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center)
    Job Function:
    1. Patient Care
      1. Provides direct patient care management to high acuity patients including performing histories and physicals, admits, and discharges; related to the care of specialty patients focusing on the maintenance, achievement, and restoration of optimal functions of patients.
      2. The NP will also visit patients prior to surgery, conduct discharge teaching afterward, and prescribe medications, including narcotics.
    2. Partnership and Collaboration
      1. Plans, implements and evaluates nursing medical care consistent with medical treatment and care in collaboration with a physician. Additionally, the practitioner will initiate or modify medical treatment within an established plan of medical protocol.
      2. The NP will assist with consults, write orders, coordinate with consulting physicians, and accompany physicians on rounds. The NP will analyze clinical data; order and/or perform necessary diagnostic tests or procedures; develop, implement, and evaluate the therapeutic regimen.
    3. Quality
      1. The NP will teach and provide support for patients and their families; minimize fragmentation by providing coordination of care; manage transition of the patient to step-down units or to out-patient settings; and serve as patient advocates.
    4. Other Duties As Assigned
      1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
      2. Criteria for Hospital Setting Nurse Practitioner: Patients of this role are of higher acuity in a specialized area This role involves being on call; This role involves hospital rounds; This role would be involved in assisting MDs with procedures (in clinic and/or hospital)
    Responsibilities

    Providing new patient and establish patient care for children birth to 12 years of age with neurodevelopmental disorders.

    Multi-disciplinary model that supports developmental pediatrics, social work, clinical psychology, neuropsychology, physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

    Qualifications

    1 year experience working with neurodevelopmental pediatric patients preferred.
