    GENERAL SUMMARY
    Works under the supervision of the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager.

    The primary job function of the Registered Pharmacist Inpatient Supervisor is to assist the pharmacy manager in managing the day to day operations of the inpatient pharmacy.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (5 year) is required
    • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) is also preferred

    Licensure:

    • Pharmacy (OH) license required.
    • Graduate Pharmacists may also be hired awaiting license .
    • BLS within 90 days of hire required.
    • Completion of PGY1 or PGY2 residency preferred.

    Experience:

    • Previous leadership experience preferred
    • Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred

    JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
    The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.


    • Assists the pharmacy manager with introductory and annual performance appraisals of pharmacists, lead technicians, and MLTs.
    • Schedules the inpatient pharmacists and the cancer center pharmacists.
    • Maintains the inpatient pharmacy dashboard.
    • Participates in and leads some daily huddles.
    • Collaborates with the clinical team regarding new clinical care initiatives.
    • Assists in leading clinical meetings.
    • Maintains compliance with USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800, State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, and Joint Commission medication management standards and national patient safety goals.
    • Works with microbiology on any viable IV room air or IV room surface sample failure
    • Works with the lead IV room technician to analyze all USP 797 staff competencies.
    • Works with P&T chair and purchasing agent to handle any and all medication shortages.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager in hiring new staff members.
    • Serves as the hub site coordinator for University of Findlay.
    • Serves as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE students.
    • Serves on the antimicrobial stewardship team.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager and MLTs at the anticoagulation clinic to assure CAP requirements are met.
    • Works with the pharmacy manager and purchasing agent to prepare the annual pharmacy budget.
    • Presents pharmacy initiatives to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager and informatics specialist with technology initiatives.
    • Responsible for order set and protocol approval.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager with the management of the anticoagulation clinic.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager with the management of the anti-arrhythmia clinic.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager with pharmacist competency preparation every 6 months.
    • Works with the pharmacy diversion specialist to investigate narcotic discrepancies.
    • Assist the pharmacy manager with scheduling the IV room recertification.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager with contract reviews.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager in leading the process improvement team.
    • With the pharmacy manager, rounds quarterly with the pharmacists and lead technicians.
    • Attends nursing huddles when needed.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager in leading weekly leadership discussions.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager in residency coordination.
    • Assists the pharmacy manager is managing the medication reconciliation program.
    • Serves on the advisory committee for the technician training program at Scioto Career Technical Center.
    • Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies according to accepted standards of practice to fill written prescriptions issued by qualified prescribers.
    • Checks the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications dispensed.
    • Intervenes clinically with the physician when necessary and appropriate to optimize drug therapy.
    • Maintains accurate and appropriate patient profiling and charging records for all inpatient and non-inpatient medication orders.
    • Follows accepted standards of practice and adheres to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of SOMC and Pharmacy Services.
    • Serves as a drug information source for patients, physicians, nursing personnel, hospital staff, visitors, and the community.
    • Assists the Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy with certain assigned reports or projects.
    • Maintains a level of professional competency and remains current in the field of pharmacy.
    • Assigns, teaches, supervises, and monitors the work of Pharmacy Technicians, students, interns, residents, and externs.
