    Job Summary:

    The Associate, Sales & Use Tax Compliance will support quality tax compliance in accordance with Textron's fiduciary processes, policies, and procedures. This person will support the tax compliance preparation and completion process by importing data, preparing tax returns, submitting payment requests, web filing returns, mailing returns, and handling document retention. You will use various tools and systems to help with the preparation of the returns. The returns must be timely filed and paid. This person will ensure that this process is adhered to. In addition, they will research, respond, and/or resolve tax notices received from state and local jurisdictions for multiple business units.

    Responsibilities:

  • Support the sales and use tax functions.
  • Prepare, file, and pay multi-state sales and use tax returns in a timely manner.
  • Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Ensure sales tax permits are current.
  • Timely renew multi-authority business licenses
  • Maintain sales & use tax email inbox, incoming postal mail, and phone inquiries by logging/researching/resolving issues.
  • Conduct document retention by scanning returns and tax notices into Hyland software.
  • Maintain required internal controls as mandated by Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Performing other responsibilities and analysis, including special projects.
  • Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or other related field, or a minimum of 0-1 years relevant work experience
  • Sales and use tax compliance and/or consulting experience a plus.
  • General Ledger/Accounting/Finance experience a plus.
  • Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to analyze and problem solve.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Basic MS Office skills and ability to learn and utilize other systems/software (MS Office, SAP, Lawson, GTD, TaxSolver, Sovos Filing, Vertex, Hyland)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
