    Dallas, TX based oil and gas focused investment banking firm is seeking experienced Petroleum Engineer to support the reservoir engineering / A&D team

    The Energy Investment Banking Group is primarily responsible for developing, structuring and executing a broad range of advisory assignments and financial transactions. Our focus is on the upstream oil & gas sector with expertise in acquisitions and divestitures (A&D), private financings, joint ventures and valuation services.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Clearly presents data requirements to clients, persists in acquiring client information, and quality controls input parameters in each engineering evaluation. Ensures the technical accuracy of both the input parameters and evaluation results. Reviews the summary results for realistic performance projections considering past performance, offset results and other historical experience factors. Utilizes the latest computer engineering evaluation programs (e.g. PHDWin, ARIES, ComboCurve) to prepare economic projections and communicates with a thorough understanding of the results, including characterization of reserves based on different pricing scenarios. Responds timely to requests for updates to engineering/economic evaluations and conveys the necessary information effectively and efficiently. Remains abreast of current industry technology advances. Advises management and the clients of the Energy Investment Banking Group on critical evaluation issues.
    • Represents the team by calling, visiting, and attending meetings with client companies as needed. Coordinates and communicates engineering information requirements and follows up to ensure success in receipt of all data in a timely manner. Represents the team in the receipt of hardware, software, and various information from third party service providers, consultants and contractors. Is dedicated to completion of projects and the ability to consistently meet deadlines. Maintains professional society membership and is active in the local community and national organizations.
    • The job requires the availability to work extended hours during peak periods.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

    • General knowledge of criteria, guidelines, regulations, daily operations activity and equipment associated with oil and gas operations
    • Basic knowledge of methods and requirements used in the valuation of producing and non-producing minerals and working interests
    • Proficient in classic reservoir engineering functions such as decline curve analysis, volumetric hydrocarbon estimation, basic log analysis, and full life cycle project economics
    • Understanding of lease operating statements from both financial and operational perspectives
    • Advanced PC skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the capability of independent thought and action, and the ability to work with minimal supervision using sound judgment. Must have excellent people skills
    • Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines in a competent and professional manner
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting
    • Working knowledge / proficiency of ARIES and/or PHDWin

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

    • Experience with the acquisition of oil and gas data from commercial industry databases (e.g. Enverus and IHS) and from state regulatory bodies such as the Texas Railroad Commission
    • Basic understanding of oil & gas land/legal/contracts
    • Knowledge of a variety of reservoir basins in the U.S.
    • Basic understanding of oil and gas related geology
    • Knowledge of ComboCurve, PETRA and Spotfire/Tableau a plus

    EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited University
    • 4+ years of relevant industry experience working as a Petroleum Engineer with an emphasis on Reservoir Engineering (additional experience related to operations is a plus)
    • Relevant A&D experience is preferred, however is not required
