    Director of Tax Provision & Reporting

    Our client, a global, publicly traded market leader with a market cap of roughly $1.5B is looking to add a talented Director, Tax Provision & Reporting.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Own all aspects of the Company's global provision for income taxes and related disclosures.
    • Maintain the income tax provision models for the quarterly and annual reporting periods.
    • Manage the U.S. GAAP tax accounting process for non-U.S. operations, including the collection and review of tax reporting packages prepared by foreign subsidiaries.

    From the Head of Tax - the position is 100% remote ... no preference on time zone ... manufacturing exposure would be a plus ... nobody understood Tax Accounting when the current Head of Tax arrived ... she was doing the work ... outside firm was reviewing ... with her promotion to Head of Tax, she is looking for someone with significant income tax accounting experience ... could get by with someone more junior on the provision role as this is the Head of Tax's "sweet spot" ... Head of Tax will be a tremendous mentor ...

    About the Head of Tax (from past Team Members)

    She is absolutely the person you would want to lead your Tax team ...

    She is one of the most knowledgeable Tax people that she has ever worked with ...

    She is very "hands on" ... she inspires involvement by her team as she won't ask her team to do anything that she wasn't willing to do herself ... she will probably figure out the best way first ...

    She builds phenomenal provision models ... this was before you could purchase provision software ... she built them in Excel ... she can quote tax code with the best of them ...

    Capable (I have very high standards, so referring to her as capable should not be taken lightly) ... Hands-on (you want a leader that will dive into the weeds, she is that person) ... Dependable (you can count on her ... she recalled responding to an email at 2 am since it was year-end close ... shortly thereafter, she responded to chime in ... she always felt very supported by her) ... she wanted to be clear that she would not push anyone the team to be answering emails at 2 am ... the exact opposite ... she wanted her team to have balance ...

    Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field required;
    • Advanced degree in Taxation preferred.
    • CPA preferred, but not required.
    • 15+ years of corporate tax experience; combination of public accounting and/industry experience, preferably working with multinational public companies.
    • 10+ years of recent tax accounting and U.S. tax compliance experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
    • Demonstrated technical expertise in accounting for income taxes including significant, recent experience applying ASC 740 in a complex, multinational, public company environment.
