    Summary As a Materials Handler you will perform duties and tasks related to the proper receipt, storage, and preparation of submitted samples, veterinary biologics, laboratory reagents, equipment, supplies and related materials, as well as, disposing of decontaminated biological waste and/or materials at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF)

    Responsibilities The duties may include, but are not limited to:

    Receives stock from a variety of sources such as local vendors, depot shipments, UPS, FEDEX, USPS, mail, motor freight, material returns, and other similar methods .

    Adheres to warehousing plan and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques to select proper storage location. Receives, sorts, processes and prepares US Mail for delivery within the main facility.

    Issues inventory, supplies and materials; stores and pulls warehouse stock; packs and unpacks materials; loads and unloads materials; uses computerized equipment to process orders issued.

    Resource for external and internal customers and for communicating to ensure that outgoing shipments are packaged, labeled and shipped according to applicable regulations Assembles and arranges for Foreign and Domestic shipments of infectious materials, including Select Agents and Toxins, sample kits, check tests, reagents and supplies.

    Coordinates enhanced security procedures for the temporary storage of outgoing and incoming Select Agents and Toxins.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

    When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP/ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100.

    First time hires to the federal government normally start at the lowest rate of the salary range for the grade selected.

    Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expense associated with reporting for duty will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
