    Summary:
    This position requires a professional capable of participating in selecting tooling, gaging, and developing processes to ensure parts are manufactured on time with the highest quality by performing the following duties:

    A is seeking an Aerospace Strategic Sourcing Engineer who will be responsible for assisting suppliers who can provide components and processes to produce complex parts and devices.

    The person in this position will participate in cross functional product development and industrialization teams.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Self-manage short- and long-term projects, including interacting with internal department and vendors
    Design manufacturing processes from experiential knowledge
    Develop new manufacturing methods to capture new business and drive sustainability for current and new programs
    Design and modify fixturing and tooling to meet process requirements
    Assist Procurement with sourcing selection, both current and new, by providing technical insights into supplier capabilities, longevity, and review of supplier proposed processes for potential failures
    Assist Quality with source development through technical product/process reviews with suppliers
    Identify and implement contractual flow down requirements
    Identify potential improvements with impact analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives
    Design and maintain characteristic accountability plans for legacy and new products
    Generate clear and concise standard work instructions
    Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of the organization
    Evaluates suppliers' core competencies and competitive positioning using cost models
    Collaborates on the development of cost reduction plans
    Collaborates with planning to obtain the Capacity Analysis of the supply chain
    Requests, processes, and analyzes RFQs and Quotes
    Participates in design-to-cost activities and make-or-buy decisions
    Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements


    Education and/or Experience:
    Minimum 5 years relative experience, Ball Screw/Bearing/Actuation background preferred
    Minimum 3 years relative experience, Supply Chain
    BSME, BSMET, or similar education background preferred
    Experience/Interest in conventional & non-conventional machining, chemical processing, non-destructive testing, and heat treatment
    Must be an independent learner, able to perform value added research & investigation
    Excellent communication and follow-up skills
    Working knowledge of quality systems and control plans
    Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma
    High level of analytical ability
    Highly developed individual contributor
    Capable of becoming a subject matter expert within the business (related to Manufacturing Engineering Activities)
    Proficiency with CAD systems, Siemens NX preferred
    Ability to travel (including internationally) as required, expected to be ~25%-50%

    Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability:


    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, set-up sheets, travelers, procedure manuals and government regulations.

    Possess a strong geometric/trigonometric mathematical understanding.


    Computer Skills:
    Must be able to use the computer and computer software as required by job. Must be proficient in MS Office applications. Basic understanding of code (VBA, C#, C++, etc.) is preferred.
