- Lead the hardware development of highly customized, multi-million dollar microscopes with sub-nanometer resolution by working closely with, and learning from, world class Marketing, Project Management, Operations, suppliers, and engineers and scientists of diverse backgrounds.
- Mechanical development from requirements to production release with concept layout, detailed design, analysis and testing as appropriate
- Make and meet project cost, quality and schedule deliverables
- Provide mechanical scoping and guidance for new projects and potential portfolio changes
- Support release to production
- Lead improvements in tools, processes and standard methodologies
- Provide innovative solutions to design challenges
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience leading the development of complex capital, and/or metrology, equipment. Advanced degrees helpful and may substitute for experience.
- Successful track record leading multi-functional technical teams
- Precision machine design proficiency, design for stiffness, controlling degrees of freedom, error budgeting, sensor selection, material selection, GD&T, design for manufacturability
- Masters with 6+ years experience, or PhD with 4+ years experience, in Physics, Mechanical, Systems or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in semiconductor capital equipment development
- Experience with metrology, motion systems, machine vision, vacuum systems, ceramics, high voltage, wafer handling, automation and/or charged particle systems.
- Experience with technology development and qualification
- Experience with Traditional and additive manufacturing methods and joining techniques (welding, brazing, ...)
- Experience with ceramics and ceramic to metal brazements.
- Proficiency with CAE
