    JOB TITLE: Ferrous Yard Laborer / Heavy Equipment Operator in training
    REPORTS TO: Ferrous Operations Manager
    JOB TYPE: Full-time, non-exempt
    LOCATION: Metalico Buffalo (127 Fillmore Ave. Buffalo, NY 14210)
    HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM, Saturdays as needed

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Load and unload scrap metal materials.
    • Clean and prepare the job site in a tidy and safe manner.
    • Use a variety of tools and machines; blowtorches, forklifts, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.
    • Sort and process scrap metal according to grade and size.
    • Communicate with managers, supervisors, co-workers, and customers clearly and respectfully.
    • Must be able to work assigned schedule.
    • Must be able to perform a variety of tasks in all kinds of weather/seasons.
    • Required to wear proper PPE (steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, etc.)
    • Operate rail scale to weigh in/out railcars.
    • Operate loader to push piles and lift off material.
    • Operate yard roll-off truck to transport material.
    • Coverage for yard inspector for scheduled time off and breaks.
    • Help grease, gas, and other miscellaneous tasks to help get equipment ready for the day.
    • Learn the functionality of heavy equipment to one day run it efficiently.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Ability to operate bobcats, forklifts, loaders a plus.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs., and stand for long periods of time.
    • Knowledge of the various ferrous and non-ferrous metals is a plus.
    • Quick learner who can follow directions.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Team player.
    • Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
    • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
