    Job Description

    Marshall Health Network Health Information Management department is seeking a full time Coder Analyst I.


    The Coder Analyst I responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic reports to extract data and apply appropriate ICD, CPT codes, modifiers, discharge dispositions, and other coding schemes to medical records for billing, internal and external reporting, research and regulatory compliance activities.


    Requirements

    EDUCATION:

    High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a Medical Terminology and Anatomy Physiology course, or enrollment in a college level coding educational program preferred.

    There is a requirement to obtain the minimum certification of a CPC within 15 months of employment as a Coder I.


    EXPERIENCE:

    Two or more years of general medical records, hospital, or physician office work experience.


    SKILLS:

    Ability to use ICD and CPT coding systems and abstract information from charts. Ability to use the Sorian Computer System.
