Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:

Leadership Team, the Aquatic Director will provide extraordinary customer service, communications, and
programming to current and prospective YMCA members. The AD will develop program guidance to
members/staff that will enable them to reach their full potential. They will build new relationships with
members that move them along a continuum from a causal connection to a committed level through
increased engagement.The Aquatic Director that will be responsible for established Aquatic operations to
include: Swim Lessons, Lifeguarding, Special Events, and other areas involved in the aquatics program
department. The Aquatics Director oversees the management of programs, facilities, risk management,
volunteer/staff development and financial development in the aquatics arena.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish strategic direction/vision for operations of the aquatic department, should include growth of adult
and youth aquatic programs.
- Recruits, hires, trains and supervises all staff including: program staff, lifeguards, swim instructors, First
Aid/CPR instructors
- Ensures that all required monthly trainings and drills are completed and recorded
- Oversees development and delivery of quality aquatics programs including youth adult swim lessons, and a
masters swim program, swim team partnership
- Oversee programming for local schools and child care sites
- Development and implementation of an annual program calendar for adult sports programs.
- Develop, manage and monitor department budget.
- Maintains records and prepares reports regarding programs and operations as needed; ensures compliance
with all state and county regulations
- Ensures excellent customer/member service and meet Association standards
- Provides leadership and support to the annual campaign, including volunteer recruitment and development
- Develops relationships in the community that have a positive impact on programming and fundraising
- Participates in branch volunteer committees. Develop promotions that recruit program participants
- Participates in State-Wide Aquatics cabinet to ensure consistency, quality in aquatic programs and facilities.
- Establish vision and systems that ensure safety across all aquatic and program endeavors; lead
collaboratively to provide systems that achieve sanitary conditions, safe environments, program excellence,
and member service excellence
- Actively participate as part of the leadership team
- Continue to serve the community with growth of CPR First Aid program offerings

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in aquatics and/or recreation preferred
- Current Lifeguarding Certification, which includes First Aid, CPR professional level, and Emergency
Oxygen Administration (YMCA Lifeguarding preferred)
- Experience working with children and adults
- Ability to develop staff into cause driven leaders
- Ability to communicate through multiple generations and formats
- Ability to generate positive revenue through programming
- Pool filtration and maintenance experience preferred
- YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification preferred
- YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
- Certified Pool Operator certification preferred
- 2+years of supervising minimum of 6 person staff team
- Experience managing a budget preferred
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Over see part-time aquatic staff of approximately 10-12 lifeguards and 4-6 swim instructors
- Participate in growth of annual campaign, in excess of $180,000 annually
- Budget responsibility of $100,000+
- Primary responsible for maintenance of the pool and all equipment
SALARY: $43,000/based on experience
