    Department Summary:


    The N112 Special Projects Department works as trusted advisors with its government sponsors across space warfighting, acquisition, and other mission partners as they architect system integration efforts to successfully incorporate new technologies and software applications in support of a resilient space enterprise infrastructure, sensing, and an integrated C2 system.


    Additionally, N112 performs numerous sensing experiments and prototyping activities including class-leading modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities designed to enable MITRE and sponsor-driven analysis and research in all space mission domains across multiple customers, missions, and technology providers.

    The research, development, and outcomes of these efforts provide high-quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation's Space policy, operations, and systems.


    Job Responsibilities:
    The technical work areas you will apply your skills to include:

    Develop state of the art prototypes using Software Defined Radios to process signals of interest

    Act as a technical leader in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment to identify, assess, prototype, and implement satellite communication technologies

    Lead a development team and advise sponsor Program Manager (PM) on project schedule, risks and testing

    Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environment

    Maintain systems and documentation as needed for development and ongoing operations

    Duties will be performed while collocated with sponsor in Colorado Springs, CO


    Basic Qualifications:


    A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years and a Master's degree; BS, MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

    Understanding of software design patterns and best practices

    Experience with analyzing signals and communication technologies

    Enthusiasm and a desire to learn and grow

    Programming Language experience with one or more of:
    Python, C/C++, YAML, JSON, CUDA, Java

    Experience with Software Defined Radios

    Have strong interpersonal skills to effectively participate as a member of multi-disciplinary teams

    Have a strong ability to frame and articulate difficult and/or complex technical problems and concepts clearly and simply in a systems engineering context

    Can work independently seeking guidance and collaboration in complex situations

    Serve as a mentor and foster a culture of technical creativity and mission impact, including but not limited to collaborating across MITRE to provide cross-cutting and impactful solutions

    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

    DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.


    Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Deep understanding in the theory and implementation of SATCOM protocols, systems, and standards

    Ability to characterize Radio Frequency signal paths

    Understanding of VSAT technologies and their underlying protocols

    Experience with DoD and Air or Space Force programs

    Ability to learn new technologies and techniques and apply systems engineering skills

    Technical writing skills such as drafting software designs and technical guidance

    Experience developing in an environment running the Linux Operating System

    Excellent interpersonal, briefing, and communication skills

    Skilled working with Docker containers

    Knowledge of IP network transport & protocols

    Development with GPU architectures and CUDA

    Experience remotely troubleshooting issues

    Salary compensation range and midpoint:
    $141,000 - $176,000 - $211,000 Annual
