Description of Duties
This is a professional and scientific position in the specialized field of forensic pathology responsible for investigating deaths, performing autopsies, conducting pathological and toxicological analyses, and assisting the Medical Examiner with duties as assigned.
Duties involve responding to emergencies at a variety of hours and locations. Must meet the special requirements listed below or otherwise be separated from the position.The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Medical Examiner or other higher level staff member.
General supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel. Does related work as required.Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Doctor of Medicine degree, completion of a residency in pathology and a fellowship in forensic pathology.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Eligibility for a license to practice medicine in the State of New York and possession of a valid license within six (6) months of appointment.
Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Forensic Pathology or eligible for certification at the time of appointment.
