JOB TITLE:
Information Technology Technician

MUSTS:

Applicants must possess an A+ or MCSA-Windows 10 certification, two years of related work experience and a HS diploma or equivalent.

Applicants who do not possess either certification must obtain one within 12 months of employment or display a satisfactory combination of experience and formal education.

Typical experience would include two years of increasing responsible experience working with personal computers, mobile computers, and networks.

Must possess a valid Colorado Class R Operator s license and have an acceptable driving record in compliance with City policies

Require travel to off-site locations for work, errands, or training.

If a city vehicle is used, must be physically capable of operating the vehicle safely, possess a valid driver s license and have an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge of: 1. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.

Intermediate level knowledge of VPN connections.
Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures and techniques.

Knowledge of theory, principles, practices and methods of utilizing and analyzing centralized computer systems, peripheral equipment, local area networks and wide area networks.

Ability to diagnose computer workstation, server and network problems.
Skilled in practices and methods of training computer users.
Ability to prioritize and exhibit strong time management skills.

Ability to:

Interact effectively with the public and employees; work flexible schedules to support 24 hour operation, configure and troubleshoot personal computers and peripheral equipment.

Install and optimize personal computer software; prepare complete and concise reports rapidly analyze system and user problems, identify alternative solution, and provide resolution.

Instruct non-technical users on proper procedures and practices.
Safely drive City vehicles and be insurable as per the City s insurance standards.

Education/Experience Requirements:

SKILLS:
1.

Provide maintenance support; repair, in-house, various hardware components on network systems and mobile data systems such as PCs, PC printers, PC peripheral devices, terminals, terminal printers, remote printers, communications equipment, cables, modems, and associated software.

2. Install, configure, document and distribute equipment and software to users as needed. 3. Oversee the maintenance of records, including a complete and current inventory of all computer equipment and data-communication equipment. 4. Troubleshoot problems and perform new product analysis on software. 5. Assist the Director of Information Technology in maintaining the City s network. 6. Provide user training for equipment and software. 7. Aid in maintaining an inventory of hardware and software. 8.

Assist or develop advanced scripting and applications for use in applications such as Terminal Services, VB Scripting, and Mobile communications.

9. Continually monitor new technologies in support of currently installed systems. 10. Some Graphic Design experience to assist in Website Design, presentations and video editing. 11. Safely transport hardware components to various City locations in City vehicles. 12. Ability to safely and competently climb ladders on City water towers to repair or replace equipment. 13. Perform related duties as assigned.

DUTIES:
Provide functional support installing, troubleshooting, testing PC hardware, and software and network components of the City s distributed computer systems, including police mobile data, training on said systems and graphics design, and performs related work as required
