    Job Description Behavior Interventionist

    Hiring for part time employment - Monday- Friday 11:30am-4pm with potential for full time, 8am-4pm


    Mission Statement

    To provide effective and ethical treatment in order to help individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder of all ages and developmental levels reach their full potential. To provide programming based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and utilize evidence-based interventions. To provide the highest quality therapy for children we serve and highest level of support for their families.


    Behavior Interventionist Position Summary:

    Behavior Interventionist are professionals who have completed a minimum of a 40-hour intensive theory training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), have successfully passed a competency assessment administered by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and received a passing score on the Registered Behavior Technician exam through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in order to become a Registered Behavior Technician. All Behavior Interventionists provide educational and behavioral services for children with autism by implementing Applied Behavior Analysis methodologies and are continually supervised by an agency BCBA on a weekly basis and engage in behavior analytic professional development activities. Behavior Interventionists are responsible for the direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans developed by the BCBA. The Behavior Interventionists may also collect data and conduct certain types of assessments (e.g., stimulus preference assessments) under the supervision of a BCBA. The Behavior Interventionist are not responsible for the designing of interventions, conducting in-depth assessments, or developing skill acquisition or behavior reduction plans. It is the responsibility of the designated BCBA supervisor of the Behavior Interventionist to determine which tasks a Behavior Interventionist may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence. The designated BCBA supervisor is ultimately responsible for the work performed by the Behavior Interventionist.


    Knowledge of:

    • Appropriate behavioral intervention strategies
    • Learning theories and instructional methods
    • Ethics, laws, and regulations of acceptable behavior interventions
    • Developmental processes of children, adolescents, and adults
    • Interpersonal skills needed to manage crisis situations
    • Technology, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling

    Skills and Abilities to:

    • Assess situations and make proper judgments
    • Understand behavioral situations and react accordingly in an ethical manner
    • Objectively analyze crisis situations
    • Respond quickly to emergency situations
    • Communicate effectively and make recommendations to various agency staff and outside professionals, groups, or individuals
    • Perform general clerical duties including maintain accurate client records and preparing clear and concise reports
    • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse group of clients, parents/caregivers and other agency staff
    • Use a paper or software to prepare documents and maintain client records
    • Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines
    • Follow guidance from senior level staff to enhance own professional development
    • Work with a diverse team of professionals in a respectful manner
    • Supervise clients during treatment sessions
    • Display time management, oral and written communication, and organizational skills

    Behavior Interventionist Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide direct behavioral services to clients in individual and group sessions
    • Run skill acquisition programs with clients using Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior Analysis
    • Complete program writing and maintain client's program book each session
    • Work with Board Certified Behavior Analysts to implement individualized treatment plans
    • Collect data and graph data as instructed
    • Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies
    • Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients during treatment sessions and when emergency crisis situations arise
    • Maintains a professional demeanor with clients, parents, and other professionals in the field.
    • Provides information by answering questions and requests.
    • Provides in-center and community behavioral support.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Maintains client records and confidentiality according to Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act and other privacy laws.
    • Provides parents with training and support.
    • Attends any agency social or community event.
    • Attends staff development training.
    • Check emails and scheduling software daily
    • Renders sessions and collect signature daily, and submit timesheets on Web ABA
    • Proficient in ABA teaching methodologies such as Errorless Learning, First Trial Data and Discrete Trial Training during direct intervention.
    • Promotes evidence-based treatments.
    • Keeps programs up-to-date and data sheets that reflect measurable data and progress on goals.
    • Maintains certificates and licenses.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Web ABA.


    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Specialized Training:

    Minimum of 500 hours in applied behavior analysis or related field.


    Certificates and Licenses:

    • Valid driver's license
    • Proof of insurance

    Must Complete and Pass:

    • TB Test
    • Live Scan
    • Registered Behavior Technician Credentialing within 90 days of start date
