    Job Summary:

    Performs skilled plumbing duties in the installation, inspection, maintenance, remodeling and repairing of State facilities. Working under general supervision makes determinations and recommendations for repairs or replacement of material and equipment for work assigned. Installs equipment such as drinking fountains, water heaters, sinks, toilets, fog room misting systems, water circulating pumps, sewage lift station pumps, and heating units. Installs, replaces and repairs piping of all types used for gas, water, sewage and air. Installs, replaces and repairs electrical control for pumps and motors. Orders parts and materials necessary to complete projects. Makes sure all work complete by Contractor is completed per current building codes and regulations, making suggestions for most efficient layout of remodel design. Manages back-flow program and completes yearly inspections of back-flows, submits inspection reports to Municipalities having jurisdiction on water system. Responsible for accomplishing all tasks in a timely and efficient manner; adhering to and assuring all safety rules are followed and all work complies with National and local building codes. Performs duties to assist and support park with duties and operations as needed.

    Job Duties:

    Makes periodic and special inspections of plumbing, cooling, and heating equipment according to preventative maintenance standards or otherwise directed.
    - Determines condition of equipment, and decides on repairs or replacements to be made.
    - Prepare and submit reports to the supervisor monthly.
    - Installs and repairs equipment such as drinking fountains, water heaters, sinks, boilers, toilets, dishwashers, water softeners, sewage left station pumps, heating units, irrigation and landscaping. - Installs, replaces and repairs piping of all types used for gas, water, sewage and air.
    - Installs, replaces and repairs electrical control for pumps and motors.
    - Maintain natural gas lines and leak information to meet regulations.
    - Manages the preventive maintenance of building sewage systems by establishing schedule to snake, jet and/or run camera in sewer lines.
    - Reads blueprints or other specifications for correct placement of equipment.
    - Makes spot repairs if at all possible.
    - Orders parts and materials necessary to complete any job.
    - Inspects completed work for proper operation.
    - Makes adjustments, threads pipes, bends pipes to prepare for jobs.
    - Uses pipe cutter, reamer, threading machine, snakes, cables, and other plumbing repair devices. Keeps records of materials used and work completed.
    - May weld, braze or solder plumbing connections.
    - Trains co-workers, assuring all works complies with national and local building codes and statutes, as well as all safety regulations.
    - Oversees contracted services; performing work on small projects as assigned; assists design and construction unit with renovation projects.
    - Updates plumbing record drawings on work completed.
    - Participate in job-site safety seminars and training to maintain certifications as appropriate.
    - Participate in park operational duties to include tasks such as, but not limited to, general park maintenance, customer service, cash handling, public education/outreach, and other related duties.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    Knowledge of:
    Methods and practices involved in remodeling and construction, and in installing and replacing major utility services; blueprints, sketches and structural components of buildings and related utility systems; national and local building codes; common and specialized tools, equipment and materials related to the trade; estimating, costing and ordering supplies and materials; common safety practices; policies and procedures established for the work system. General understanding of park operations, maintenance and related duties.

    Skill in:
    Installing, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and equipment; using of common and specialized tools, testing and metering devices, and equipment and materials related to the trade; estimating, costing, and ordering materials; applying common safety practices; reading and understanding blueprints, sketches, and schematics; troubleshooting problems; oral and written communication; and demonstrating work leadership. Analyze a problem, identify a solution, and complete appropriate repairs to snake, jet and/or run camera in sewer lines. Customer service, cash handling, and park operations.

    Ability to:
    Methods and practices of remodeling and construction and installing and replacing major utility services; reading and understanding blueprints, sketches and schematics relating to buildings and utilities; applying and understanding National and local building codes and common safety practices; the trade of a plumber; using common and specialized tools, equipment and materials; oral and written communications; ordering and estimating materials and costs; interpersonal relationships.

    Selective Preference(s):

    One year of journey level plumbing experience. Completed a plumbing apprenticeship program or graduate of a plumbing trade school; and possess at least five (5) years experience in a commercial setting. Experience in another trade, such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry, is also highly desirable. Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) may be substituted.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    Some positions may require possession of a valid Arizona driver's license at a level appropriate to the position/assignment and retention of said license during the period of employment.

    - WORK CONDITIONS: Hazards associated with maintenance, utility services and powered and non-powered tools and equipment; work can encounter extremes of climate conditions; travel as required;

    Retirement:
