    Position Summary

    Connect, disconnect vessels and pumps, clean, salvage, repair and replace piping in the plant. Interpret blue prints and fabricate piping.

    Responsibilities


    EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:


    Box ends, impact tools, pipe wrenches, open end and torque wrenches, mechanical saws, drill press, pipe machine, air hoist, chain hoists.


    SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
    Exercise caution when working around chemical and explosive gases. Must be able to work under hot and cold conditions. Should not be afraid of heights or close places. Must be able to wear Respirator and/or Fresh Air Equipment as needed.


    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
    Normal vision and hearing, pulling, pushing, climbing, reaching, standing, turning, walking, stooping, carrying, kneeling, bending and handling heavy objects.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High school diploma or GED equivalent

    Prefer 5 years relative industrial pipfitter experience, journeyman level

    Good communication skills, ability to handle multiple assignments, good troubleshooting skills

    Experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting a plus

    Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift


    On the Job Training:
    Computer Based Learning (CBL's), also off site training is provided when needed depending on job position and requirements.


    COMMENTS:


    Should have knowledge of the pipefitting code such as: what schedule pipe to use, where, what kind of pipe (brass, galvanized, stainless steel, plastic, etc.) when and where.


    How to install equipment such as:
    strainers, regulators, control and pressure relief valves, etc.

    Should be able to work under confined conditions such as:
    pipe racks, inside pressure vessels, process driers and baler areas, etc. Should be able to work on scaffolds and high places and handle rigging. Should have a good memory in order to guard against the different chemicals, gases, etc. in the plant. Be able to carry out verbal as well as written instructions. Should be able to read blueprints and make isometric drawings.

    Be safety conscious in order to work in safety equipment such as:
    slicker suits and acid suits, face shields, rubber boots and gloves under adverse conditions. Should be responsible for company tools issued to him. Should know hand signals for crane. Must be able to work well with others.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
