About the Role:

JOB IS BASED IN DALLAS, TX OR BIRMINGHAM, AL - WORK 3 DAYS ONSITE, 2 DAYS REMOTE

Vulcan is looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join the team in Birmingham, AL and/or Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing cloud and hybrid data solutions that meet Vulcan's business requirements. A Vulcan Data Engineer collaborates with internal stakeholders, project managers, and team members to ensure the solutions align with business needs and expectations. Flexibility to learn and adapt to new technologies based on business needs is essential.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the architecture, development, and maintenance of Vulcan's next-generation Data platform.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical requirements for designing long-term data solutions.
Utilize technologies like Python, Lambda, Airflow, Snowflake, REST API, AWS, and S3 for developing data infrastructure and pipelines.
Design, create, and maintain enterprise data models to support data needs.
Develop data solutions for data exploration, transformation, and utilization to support Machine Learning and business intelligence.
Operationalize complex data solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data quality.
Research new data technologies and integration frameworks to enhance the data platform.

Requirements:

3-5 years of data modeling, data warehousing, and data pipeline implementation experience.
Experience with cloud-based data technologies such as Snowflake, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Oracle.
Proficiency in tools like Matillion for ETL processes.
Strong programming skills in SQL, PL/SQL, Python, and shell scripting.
Familiarity with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
Knowledge of databases (Oracle, SQL Server), ETL processes, CI/CD, and deployment.
Experience with streaming services like Kafka is a plus.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
