Robertshaw is a leading global design, engineering and manufacturing company in the Chicago area that sells components and systems solutions into the residential white goods, commercial appliance, HVAC, and transportation industries.
Scope/Responsibilities:
Based in Itasca, Illinois, and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position has overall global responsibility for the Company's tax function, including: provision, compliance, and planning.
Partnering with third-parties, this individual is responsible for coordination of local country teams and providers in completing this work for the international locations.
This individual also has responsibility for preparing the income tax footnote in the Company's annual report.Other responsibilities include:
Manage outside tax consultants and advisors
Work closely with the Controllership team and provide tax data for review of business results and forecasts
Review deferred tax computations and financial statement footnote support relating to corporate income taxes including completing year end audit tax workpapers and memorandums.
Establish and maintain transfer pricing policy and complianceParticipate with members of executive management and provide advice in planning the Company's operations to minimize taxes, consistent with overall corporate strategic objectives
Consult and coordinate with external tax providers as well as the private equity sponsor to plan and manage the income tax ramifications of potential acquisition targets, dispositions, financings, and other transactions
Provide cash tax forecast for tax payments/refunds
Coordinate annual R&D Tax Credit study
Oversee special projects as required (E&P studies, 382 studies, deferred tax analysis, etc.)
Pursue refunds, credits and incentives as the Company moves into new markets or new locations to maximize tax benefits to the Company
Working with inhouse Counsel, organize and supervise the preparation of tax audit reviews, settlements, refund claims, ruling requests, protests and appeals.
Recommending and coordinating litigation on tax mattersCoordinate and insure timely filing of indirect taxes such as sales and use , property , and excise tax
Regular liaise with company's foreign operations on tax matters related to their operations (income tax, VAT, withholding tax, etc.)
Qualifications:
A solid understanding of both Domestic and International tax
Proficiency with income tax accounting (ASC 740, FIN 48)
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills
Excellent project management, multi-tasking and follow through capabilities
Prior experience in a global manufacturing environment
Strong
operational/business
experience
Working knowledge of Internal Revenue Code, state tax laws, and international tax matters
Ability to work with top management to minimize overall tax liability
Solid understanding of financial accounting to understand book treatment and recognize tax issues
Strong MS Office Suite product knowledge, including Word and Excel
Strong attention to detail with good organizational and problem-solving skills
Intellectual curiosity and dedication to continuous improvement
Energetic and collaborative attitude with demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting CPA Preferred
Master's degree in taxation is a plus
15+ years in Tax positions; 5+ as a Corporate Tax Manager
