    General Manager - Chick-fil-A (ORD)

    Reports to: Director of Concessions and Contract Management

    Salary Range: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year and bonuses

    Hyde Park Hospitality is hiring a General Manager for the Chick-Fil-A restaurant opening inside the Chicago O'Hare International Airport

    Position Summary

    The purpose of the General Manager (GM) position is to maintain the Chick-fil-A restaurant and all related points of sale. Ensure the restaurant is clean, ready for business, staffed, and operates to high operational and financial standards. Plan, administer, and direct all activities related to retail operations, complying with the standards established by HPH, regulatory agencies, and the brand client. The GM uses broad discretion and judgement to make great leadership decisions and is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant.

    Essential Functions

    • Deliver strong operation performance and upholding regulatory agency standards and programs, continually monitoring operations, completing assessments, and developing necessary action plans to provide optimal food quality and meal service and drive customer satisfaction.
    • Provide overall direction and manage performance, ensuring employee development, engagement, compliance with Human Resources-related policies and standards including conducting applicable rounding.
    • Ensures all managers and staff recognize the importance of closing the restaurant to prepare the restaurant for opening, holding shift managers accountable for executing all closing and opening checklists and requirements.
    • Understands, adopts, and consistently demonstrates defined behaviors designed to create an environment where employee engagement thrives.
    • Deploys staff and resources to maximize profitability within the restaurant, and overall P&L responsibility.
    • Develop operational component forecast; able to explain variance. Responsible components accounting functions.
    • Assigns work tasks and activities, prepares schedules, and ensures that all shifts are covered.
    • Provides staff with consistent support, coaching, and encouragement necessary to achieve business goals.
    • Interviews job candidates, makes hiring, termination, advancement, promotion or any other status change decisions for associates within the unit. Promotes Hyde Park Hospitality as an employer of choice within the local community.
    • Ensures company and branch diversity and inclusion philosophy is understood and actively executed within the restaurant.
    • Reads and understands financial and operational data and reports to monitor progress towards location goals and assigns associates to meet those objectives.
    • Supports company recognition initiatives and develops and implements plans that will motivate the teams.
    • Ensures that the company has the most current contact information for all associates working in the restaurant.
    • Ensures daily orders are prepared and location is stocked with appropriate levels of product and teaches associates proper ordering procedures.
    • Oversees receiving goods, processing invoices, and contacting vendors for supply chain issues/product availability.
    • Maintains proficiency in all relevant management information systems and tools.
    • Monitors and maintains restaurant equipment, schedules routine service or repairs as needed.
    • Participates and manages company response to all airport and other audits.
    • Minimizes waste, records as needed and participates in food donation program.
    • Uses judgement and discretion to resolve customer and associate questions and problems and determines when to refer more complex issues to senior level leaders.
    • Actively ensures all associates take all mandated rest breaks and meal periods.
    • Ensures display areas are appropriately clean, stocked, and visually appealing.
    • Ensures all equipment is in good working order.

    Qualifications

    • Requires a Bachelor's Degree plus 2 - 4 years of management experience or an Associate's Degree plus the equivalent of 6 years of management experience or years management experience with increasing degrees of responsibility attained.
    • Requires a minimum of three years of experience successfully managing a related restaurant including P&L management. The ideal candidate should have at least 5-7 years of underlying experience in QSR on top of leadership experience.
    • Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may be used as a substitute for a portion of the time-based requirements for these roles.
    • Demonstrates team management, delegation, and issue resolution skills and the ability to manage multiple and concurrent priorities.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of HPH and Chick-fil-A policies, products, service, quality, equipment, and operational standards within a reasonable time from hire or promotion.
    • Requires the ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers.
    • Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client and Hyde Park Hospitality information.
    • Ability to work shifts during various operating days and hours each week. Opening and closing availability is required to effectively monitor restaurant associates work activities during these different days and times.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
    • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, and all procedures and protocols to comply with HACCP standards.
