    This role is responsible for people and team development, motivating the team and ensuring quality performance. Responsibilities include cost efficiency, continuous improvement on processes, service, and safety for an entire business unit across all shifts.

    The Automation Engineer Senior Leader will be responsible for the operations, maintenance, and support of the Manufacturing Systems pertaining to the Warehouse and Intralogistics in our High Point facility. The key areas of focus for this leader will be the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), unmanned Laser Guided Vehicles (LGV), and Continuous Improvement. The leader must have a strong sense of technology and automation and leverage those skills to achieve sustained optimum performance of the systems through efficient operations and effective maintenance.

    The Automation Engineer Senior Leader will lead a team comprised of Automation Coaches (operations), Maintenance Leader, and Continuous Improvement Engineers.

    Responsibilities

    Lead Automated Warehouse and Intralogistics Operations :

  • The Automation Engineer Senior Leader supervises the automated warehouse operations team, consisting of Automation Coaches, Captains, and Team Members. 16 – 20 people will report under the operations structure.
  • The operations team oversees and executes the day-to-day operations of the automated warehouse and intralogistics at High Point, including inventory management, recovery from external/internal alarms, monitor warehouse KPIs, daily reporting, dock door operations, and end-of-line labeler operations.
  • Lead Automated Warehouse and Intralogistics Maintenance :

  • The Senior Leader will be responsible for the planning and execution of all Warehouse and Intralogistics maintenance activities, including ASRS, AGV, and Conveyors. The senior leader will also manage the Embedded Engineer Program, in partnership with our vendor, ensuring a gradual transfer of knowledge.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement :

  • Lead a team of Continuous Improvement Engineers to monitor performance and relevant KPIs of the LGV and ASRS systems, using applications such as WMS and SMART Traffic Manager, to ensure the service level of these systems allows for sustained production capacities.

    Compensation and Benefits :

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $114,700 - $192,100 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

  • Qualifications

    Education Level (Desired level of education) :

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant industry certifications can be advantageous.
  • Years of experience :

  • Experience with automated warehouse operations preferred.
  • Competencies:

    Soft Skills

  • Proficiency in collaborating across various departments to ensure seamless operations and maintenance of automated systems. This involves effective communication, fostering teamwork, and aligning goals to maximize efficiency.

  • A leader who is aligned and can help execute a forward-thinking automation strategy aligned with the company's long-term objectives.
  • Technical Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate a team of 20 – 30 individuals.
  • Experience with automated warehouse operations preferred.
