    Alliant Energy has a great opportunity for a Customer Support Representative to join our team in IowaThis person will be responsible for customer contact in the areas of customer service and billing, performing billing activities within assigned parameters, successfully resolving escalated billing issues, validating usage information for more sophisticated rate groups.

    Other responsibilities include resolving questions and problems and escalating more complex issues for resolution.

    The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs, including proficiency with excel in writing formulas, formatting and creating pivot tables.

    This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent organization skills, the ability to multi-task and to analyze moderately complex data.

    This is a hybrid-remote position reporting to either the Cedar Rapids, IA or Centerville, IA office.

    What You Will DoResponsible for performing standardized tasks associated with assigned billing parameters, which may include:
    summary billing, billing exceptions, inaccurate metering, non-meter billing set-up, electronic meter reads, contract processing.
    Analyze and respond to complex or escalated customer inquiries. May be required to adapt standard procedures and processes to resolve customer issues.

    Responsible for understanding and applying rate tariffs; keeps current on rate changes, communicates with internal and external customers as necessary.

    Keeps complete and accurate documentation on customers, as appropriate, including audit trails, bills, changes in metering, contracts, communications, etc. Creates or modifies written processes as needed.
    Initiates work orders for meter readings, service requests, construction and/or customer program offeringsAnswers customer calls and responds to inquiries. Participates in customer outreach.
    Answers outage and emergency calls for call center.
    Mentors less-experienced staff as needed.
    Other duties as assigned.
    EducationAssociate Degree is preferred.
    Required Experience3 years experience in customer billing operations, accounting, information technology, or related area.
    Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
    Preferred ExperienceExperience in utility or related industry in billing, pricing, or economic analyses applicable to the utility industry.
    Project management skills.
    Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesProven effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

    Proven working knowledge of computer functions and above average typing speedsDemonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs and Windows-based customer information systems.

    Ability to successfully pass web-based pre-employment screening assessments.
    Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work with others to find solutions to customer requests.

    Proven ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management).Ability to work under minimal supervision.

    General understanding of electric and gas pricing and operations.
    Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks appropriatelyWorks in a diverse and inclusive environment.
