    Position Purpose:


    The Information Technology (IT) organization is an enterprise shared service and supports all businesses and corporate functions globally, providing oversight and management for enterprise technology.

    Stericycle is seeking a hands-on, driven and innovative Director to develop and lead our Program Management Office (PMO) and implement program and project management philosophy across the organization. This position will be responsible for establishing, implementing and controlling Program/Project Management methodologies, processes and tools appropriate for managing and monitoring key strategic project initiatives worldwide. In addition, the Director will be responsible for providing oversight to the enterprise project portfolio and the project management organization.

    This IS Leadership role is meant to navigate organizational complexity, prevent departmental silos, and implement best practice policies and procedures in a complex business and technology environment by developing and maintaining strong relationships with a variety of individuals across the organization.

    Key Job Activities:

    • Responsible for implementing and directing the Global IT Program Management Office for Stericycle.
    • Directs and mentors program managers, project managers, portfolio managers and/or other project management staff.
    • Develop and implement a tiered governance structure to identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria (return on investment, productivity, compliance, etc.).
    • Defines, develops, implements, and provides oversight for enterprise-wide project and program management practices, governance standards, processes, tools, and metrics.
    • Ensures business programs and projects are defined, tracked, managed, and communicated in a consistent and effective manner.
    • Ensures that all programs and initiatives are aligned to the company objectives and strategies and have a sound business case
    • Incorporates effective change and risk management controls.
    • Creates integrated program roadmaps, Responsible ensures interdependencies are clearly identified, managed, and assists in timely resolution of interdependency conflicts
    • Develop and implement resource planning process to ensure appropriate resource availability across the project portfolio.
    • Provide organization with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.
    • Create Organization plan to ensure proper skills are available and maintained within the organization
    • Develop vendor strategy and metrics and manage vendors to achieve a high level of performance
    • Collaborate with internal audit to establish adequate IT compliance controls and oversee their implementation. Support IT project audits to ensure compliance and accuracy of the established controls
    • Create and implement a communications plan to ensure frequent, accurate and timely communication to all stakeholders and to solidify commitment to the strategic roadmap
    • Facilitate IT Demand Management activities including partnering with IT Engagement on IT portfolio content management; coordination of Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Data Privacy reviews; and preparing for Business Case reviews of IT requests.
    • Facilitate spend activity and purchase requests for IT software, hardware, and services. Determine proper action plan for spend and procurements business requirements.
    • Monitor upcoming renewals and notify cost center owners of contract requirements.
    • Evaluate ongoing contract spend against budget and forecast.
    • Perform regular reviews of, and identify opportunities to improve, IT department processes and controls. Update IT documentation as appropriate.
    • Coordinate and facilitate regular IT operational reviews.

    Experience (North America):

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
    • 10+ years in a program or project management capacity
    • 10+ years managing large project teams
    • 8-10 years in project portfolio management capacity, preferably with experience in resource capacity planning and business case development
    • 8-10 years of experience with departmental budget and/or procurement management
    • Familiarity with IT Sourcing and IT Finance strategic objectives and processes
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
