- Management and delivery of quarterly and annual Bermuda solvency return/regulatory reporting requirements.
- Preparation of timely management reporting to meet the needs of the management team / local board, as well as internal stakeholders.
- Analyzing key business earnings drivers, including underwriting results, investment results, expense drivers and taxes.
- Providing support and analysis for PFI consolidated and/or affiliated ceding company requirements.
- Analysis and resolution of technical accounting and reporting issues as they arise.
- Working closely with Finance Shared Services (FSS) teams to manage the quarterly close process and annual U.S. GAAP and Bermuda Statutory audit requirements.
- Preparation of Financial Condition Report.
- Preparing accounting policy documentation, including for capital management projects, new reinsurance transactions (block and new flow basis), and new accounting guidelines.
- Actively working with corporate centers and other internal parties, including Corporate Controllers, Actuarial, FSS, Risk Management, internal and external auditors, Treasurers and Asset & Liability Management.
- Directly managing the control activities for related processes.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science or business-related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of accounting and financial reporting experience with at least 2 years post qualification in the reinsurance in- dustry, utilizing US GAAP.
- Recognized Accounting designation CPA or equivalent required, advanced degree or designation (e.g., CFA) a plus.
- Good understanding and relevant experience with life (re) insurance accounting and actuarial concepts.
- Prior experience in Bermuda and experience with Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement is a strong plus.
- Prior experience with Solvency II frameworks as it applies to long-term reinsurance operations.
- Experience with acquisitions/dispositions and knowledge of US GAAP purchase accounting as it relates to reinsurance.
- Strong working knowledge of insurance reporting and regulatory frameworks, including Solvency II and EBS.
- Proven ability to interpret financial information, identify key issues based on this information and propose efficient, robust and effective processes, controls and measures to address them.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills with the ability to identify interrelationships among components of financial information and to understand and document key drivers of earnings and significant financial trends.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to break down complex financial or actuarial concepts and communicate them to all levels of management.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required during peak reporting periods.
