Manufacturing Engineer – Facility - Oshkosh

Job description
The Facility Engineer (Manufacturing Engineer) is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing value chain. This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, supporting New Product Introductions (NPI), enhancing product quality, and increasing operational efficiency.The engineer will work closely with shop floor personnel and cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles, optimize facility layouts, and support equipment and process improvements.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and support the successful launch of New Product Introductions (NPI) within Operations.
Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Support facility transformation, technology transfer, and maintenance of mixed-model production lines or value streams.
Develop and implement process documentation, standards, and work instructions to ensure sustainable improvements.
Apply demand-driven manufacturing principles to improve flexibility, speed, and responsiveness.
Optimize product, material, and information flow to maximize efficiency and minimize operating costs.
Collaborate closely with shop floor teams to continuously improve manufacturing methods, systems, and controls.
Design and support area layouts, process definitions, and manufacturing workflows.
Assist with PLC programming, equipment selection, justification, and implementation.
Deploy and adhere to Generac manufacturing tools, methodologies, and standards.
Support continuous improvement objectives to meet customer satisfaction and fulfillment goals.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology.
3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering role within an industrial environment.
Minimum 3+ years of manufacturing experience in the United States.
Required Skills & Experience
Manufacturing engineering or facility engineering experience.
Hands-on experience supporting NPI in manufacturing operations.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
Experience working in high-mix/low-volume and/or high-volume/low-mix production environments.
Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or ProE.
Experience with process optimization, line balancing, and layout design.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct Manufacturing Engineering experience.
Exposure to automation and PLC-controlled equipment.
Experience supporting facility upgrades or equipment installations.
Background in industrial, automotive, power systems, or heavy equipment manufacturing.
