    Description

    Job Responsibilities

    • Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
    • Prepares specialty meat merchandise such as sausage, oven-ready products, and cured meats.
    • Checks products to ensure they meet quality standards.
    • Maintains sampling program.
    • Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage.
    • Mentors and supports assigned meat cutter trainees.
    • Provides excellent customer service, practices suggestive selling techniques, and ensures timely customer assistance.
    • Maximizes sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of products.
    • Follows established procedures for weights and measures, health, sanitation, and safety.
    • Maintains a clean working environment and equipment in compliance with safety standards.
    • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties, ensures pricing accuracy.
    • Reports safety hazards immediately.
    • Performs other assigned duties.

    Job Skills

    • Understanding of meat team processes and procedures.
    • Strong cutting skills, able to break down products into sub-primal and retail cuts.
    • Extensive knowledge of meat and seafood cuts and cooking techniques.
    • Visual examination of products for quality and freshness.
    • Ability to communicate market information effectively.
    • Strong communication skills, team player mindset.
    • Delivers information clearly and respectfully to team members, customers, and vendors.
    • Meets customer service expectations in all interactions.

    Experience

    • Over 14 months of retail experience.

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

    • Able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Standing/walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
    • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling.
    • Motions required: bending, twisting, squatting, reaching.
    • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, 90°F temperatures.
    • Able to work in wet, cold environments and handle cutting equipment.
    • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Use of tools like box cutters, electric pallet jacks, heavy machinery.
