    IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ FOR ALL RECREATION POSITIONS:
    By State law, all positions that work directly with minors require three background clearances to be obtained prior to the first day of work. You should allow 4-6 weeks to obtain all clearances. If you work for at least one month, we will reimburse for the cost of the clearances ($60.25) that are obtained for you to work for us. Please see for more information.
    2026 summer camps run from June 15 to July 24.
    SPORTS CAMP COUNSELOR
    REPORTS TO: Camp Supervisor
    GIVES DIRECTION TO: Campers
    NATURE OF WORK
    This seasonal position directs the recreational activities for children in grades The camp runs for six weeks in the summer (June 15 to July 24), Monday - Friday from 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in Mt. Lebanon Park. Some activities are basketball, broomball, paddle tennis, table games, flag football, kickball, ultimate frisbee and soccer. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Summer Sports Camp Supervisor.
    Applicants for sports camp counselor must be at least 16 years of age.
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Meets with Summer Sports Camp Supervisor and other camp counselors during In-Service training to develop a list of fun sports activities for the children to play.
    • Supervises children in daily sports and games activities.
    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Performs all other work assigned.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
    • Clear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Display a knowledge of Basic First-Aid
    • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
    REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
    • Experience organizing youth activities is preferred.
    • CPR/AED and First Aid preferred.
    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, bend, stoop; use hands to handle, or feel equipment and supplies. The employee is required to sit at times on the floor or ground with children and reach with hands and arms. The employee will need to be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 3 hours, engage in play with camp participants, and be able to run after the camper if they attempt to leave the camp location. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight and verbal communications to record, prepare and communicate appropriate camper activities.
