- Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders, particularly for complex patients in the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) or outpatient SUDS.
- Provides education to patients, family members, and significant others.
- Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
- Provides consultation to professional staff within the Dayton VAMC and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
- Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
- Functions independently as a member of the Dayton VAMC Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
- Provides some services (individual therapy, assessment, and group therapy) via telehealth.
- Collateral clinical duties may be assigned, with the consent and approval of the Substance Abuse Program Manager. These may include responsibilities such as completion of Compensation and Pension exams, other psychological assessments, or providing services in the DBT program. Administrative Responsibilities: (5% time):
- Assists the SUD Program Manager in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers.
- Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment team, established by the SUD Program Manager, and the Chief, Mental Health Service.
- Assists the SUD Program Manager in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program.
- Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services.
- Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.
- Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedure (., entering diagnostic and procedure codes).
- Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Chief (or designee) and facility Director.
- Attends regular Mental Health Service staff meetings, Psychology Discipline Meetings, Medical Staff meetings, and complies with Mental Health Service peer review procedures. Teaching and Training: (5% time)
- Provides clinical supervision and instruction for psychology interns.
- Provides didactic training experience for Psychology interns and for intern disciplinary staff within the Medical Center. Work Schedule : Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 6:30 pm

Summary
This position is assigned to the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Programs. Staff Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessment, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
