As a Research Engineer, you will be responsible for synthetic urethane chemistry and leading new developments in polymeric materials for Aerospace Transparencies. You will also use your knowledge to identify, propose, and execute new experiments to expand PPGs Aerospace Transparency capabilities. This a full onsite position in our Sylmar, C.A facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in resins, urethanes, high clarity and uniform optics, impact resistant materials and related manufacturing process implementation.
• Utilize relevant analytical and laboratory experience (FTIR, UV-Vis, DSC, TGA, rheology, tensile, hardness, formulation, synthesis, etc.)
• Performs experiments to develop new products for urethanes, polymers, composites and/or other business driven needs
• Guiding others in use of analytical equipment necessary for job.

Qualifications

• US Citizen
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a relevant technical field, such as Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or an Engineering discipline with a strong background in chemistry with 2+ years of relevant industrial experience, or Master's degree in Chemistry or a relevant technical field, such as Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or an Engineering discipline with a strong background in chemistry with 0+ years of relevant industrial experience.
• Ability to present and communicate with a broad audience, including: technical, management, and production.
