Job Summary
Employment Duration: 3 months from start date (w/ potential for extension)
The R&D Engineer 2 applies quantitative and computational analysis methods to support research projects and contributes to the design and implementation of analytical workflows of moderate scope.
The role involves analyzing large and complex biological datasets, supporting computational modeling efforts, and collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams in biomedical fields.
Key ResponsibilitiesApply quantitative and computational analysis methods to support research projects and contribute to analytical workflow design and implementation.
Write, test, and maintain well-documented, reproducible code following established best practices and team standards.
Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage code and collaborate effectively on shared projects.
Analyze large and complex biological datasets, including high-dimensional or multi-omics data, using established analytical approaches.
Contribute to research involving stem cell–derived cellular models, neuroscience, or related biomedical fields by applying computational and data analysis techniques.
Assist in developing and applying computational or statistical models to support research objectives, including approaches for identifying or prioritizing potential therapeutic candidates.
Create clear data visualizations and contribute to figures and tables for reports, presentations, and publications.Contribute to sections of scientific manuscripts, technical documentation, and reports—particularly methods and results—with guidance from senior team members.
Incorporate feedback from collaborators and reviewers to revise analyses, figures, and written materials.
Communicate technical information clearly with interdisciplinary team members and collaborate effectively with experimental and computational researchers.
Work with increasing independence while maintaining strong attention to detail, scientific rigor, and adherence to established research and data management practices.

TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations.
UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment.
