Position Summary
This position will be responsible for
streamlining our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes.
The Insurance Accounting Manager will also produce thorough financial-status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.
This position will report to the CFO.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Finance/ Accounting
Manage all aspects of insurance accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basisOversee preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
Develop, implement, and maintaininternal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
Manage the quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts
Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and CFO
Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors
Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
Filing/ReportingEnsures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review
Prepare quarterly/annual financial reports

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Five or more years of professional accounting experience in the insurance industry
Strong understanding of banking processes, insurance accounting and financial data analysis
Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, Statutory Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; Access, database, or other system knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant)
Experience working with financial reporting requirements.
