    Position Summary:

    • The Enterostomal Therapist aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma.
    • Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers.
    • Provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting.
    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Provides acute and rehabilitative care for people with selective disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integument systems in inpatient and outpatient settings.
    • Provides patient/family education.
    • Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care and maintains appropriate patient documentation, records, and charts.
    • Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list.
    • Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required.
    • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
    • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.


    Qualifications

    Experience:

    • Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 years RN experience, wound care nurse experience, highly preferred.
    • Wound Care RN certified, highly preferred.
    Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.

    License Certification:

    • Valid Florida RN license is required.
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
    • Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
