One-to-One Aide OPEN IMMEDIATELYThe Garland School is hiring a one-to-one aide to support a child's inclusion within the group environment.
Responsibilities include implementing strategies determined by teachers and specialists to meet a young child's behavioral needs to enable them to access the general curriculum more fully.
The child is four years old, turning five in early spring.The child needs intensive support around being physically gentle with their body toward other children and objects when they feel an impulse or experience a trigger.
The one-to-one aide will work approximately 6.5 hours/day with their assigned child.Much of this time will be within the larger group during outdoor play and indoors for lunch and indoor/outdoor transitions.
They will spend part of the day hosting a small play group indoors that includes their assigned child. They will spend rest time and some transition times with the child.
Successful candidates will have training and current certification in nonviolent conflict prevention and intervention, training in behavior intervention, the ability to follow a behavior plan that includes specific scripts to support the child's learning to appropriately communicate their needs and feelings, and the ability to implement behavior tracking strategies such as checklists to help the child monitor and regulate their behavior.
Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills with adults and enjoy collaborating as a team with classroom teachers, specialists and the family.
One aspect of this role is exposure to Waldorf-inspired, nature-based work with young children, including teachers taking a reserved role in the classroom and being outdoors in all weather.
Schedule & Pay
9:15am - 5:15pm Monday - Friday, immediately through August 9th, 2024.
There is a possibility of extending the role through August 2025, if the child remains enrolled at the Garland School.

After Care Teacher
The Garland School is seeking an after care teacher to work in our Waldorf-inspired, nature-based program starting IMMEDIATELY.
This is a great opportunity for someone seeking an introduction to Waldorf-inspired work with young children, and/or working with children outdoors in all weather.
The After Care Teacher will work alongside the school-day Garland teacher on duty and be supervised by the Program Director.
This teacher will work with children ages - 6 in a multiage group. Teachers should be prepared to be outside in all weather, including eating some meals outside.
The After Care Teacher will supervise children during after care hours, as well as complete any regularly-scheduled chores that need to happen during that time.
The After Care Teacher will work alongside the school-day Garland teacher on duty and be supervised by the Program Director.
