HVAC/Electrical Specialist

PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative serving the wholesale power needs of 20 distribution members - 16 electric cooperatives and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance at PowerSouth Headquarters, Point A Lodge, Roby House, and district offices heating and cooling systems, electrical circuitry, related refrigeration equipment, fire alarm and miscellaneous equipment to ensure continuous operation and optimal efficiency of equipment. Incumbent must possess a certificate or Associate's degree in HVAC, Industrial Electronics, or a related field, as well as a minimum of three (3) years' experience in HVAC service work. In addition, incumbent must hold the EPA Section 608 Technician Universal Certification and must also possess a valid driver's license. Incumbent must be capable of performing required major and minor preventative maintenance to central heating and cooling units, and other electrical and mechanical equipment. Must be proficient with multimeter, amp prob, refrigerant gauges and refrigerant reclaiming pump and associated equipment as well as must possess the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuitry specifications, bills of material, etc. Must have ability to work independently and to make timely decisions as needed. Requires the ability to operate a vehicle in a constant state of alertness, safely and without being a direct threat to self or others, either with or without any reasonable accommodations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains and installs the HVAC equipment, including control systems for same, drinking fountains and ice machines; performs repairs promptly, with a systematic preventative maintenance program.
• Installs and maintains lighting and electrical systems and equipment, including UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), standby generator sets and associated computer control systems, and overhead cranes at PowerSouth Headquarters.
• Maintains fire alarm/suppression systems, including computer controls for same.
• Maintains and installs janitorial equipment and small appliances, including snack food vending machines.
• Performs general maintenance tasks for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Responsible for ensuring the success of PowerSouth by promoting teamwork, group goals and objectives, properly communicating and cooperating within the PowerSouth organization and with member systems as well as demonstrating and promoting standards of respect and dignity, accountability, integrity, and trustworthiness.
